He is in sixth grade and is an active student that is friendly, energetic, and easy to get along with. He is a very well behaved student that is quick to repair any wrong doing he has done. Evan is not on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or is he a Title 1 student. As mentioned before, Evan does very well in his school subjects but gets easily frustrated with math. This is the subject area of improvement for this student. Evan had gotten all Aââ¬â¢s in math and show very high competence in the subject until third grade. In third grade Evan took the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) and scored below average in the area of math. After this test, but not as a result of, Evanââ¬â¢s grades in math progressively got worse. In forth grade Evanââ¬â¢s grades went from Aââ¬â¢s to Cââ¬â¢s by the end of the year. This was also the first year that Evanââ¬â¢s teacher made a comment on his report card regarding his performance in math. In fifth grade scored low on his recall of math concepts and applied concepts. His grades stayed at Bââ¬â¢s and Cââ¬â¢s but he failed to meet the Clarkston School District math requirements for fifth grade. As observed this year, Evanââ¬â¢s performance has continued on its path of low to no improvement. This year fractions and decimals have been integrated into his schema and have furthered his confusion of math. As a result of the current confusion, I will try to improve his understanding of decimals and fractions as a pretest determines. Student Relating to Ability à à à à à When asked if he had liked math before forth grade, Evan responded with a yes. He said that his teacher didnââ¬â¢t like the fact that he wasnââ¬â¢t listening and stopped giving him directions. When it came to math he didnââ¬â¢t know what was going on. He said that the addition and subtraction was easy but the multiplication was difficult. He did not enjoy math any more because it had too much sitting work. At this point he asked, ââ¬Å"Why canââ¬â¢t math be more like science. We do a lot of experiments in science and I get to walk around.

Neurological Effects of Fos B Gene on Behavior of Mice Essay -- Biolog
The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of the fos B gene and it's neurological effects on the behavior of mice through the analysis of "A Defect in Nurturing in Mice Lacking the Immediate Early Gene fos B" appearing in the July 26 issue of Cell. Through various chemical and behavioral tests it is found that fos B mothers demonstrate an inability to nurture their young. It was shown that the lack of expression of the fos B gene in certain areas of the brain was the probable cause of the lack of the nurturing response in the mutant mice. Background Immediate Early Genes (IEGs) When the central nervous system of an organism receives a stimulus, such as light, visual images, odors, etc., programs of gene expression are initiated. This expression of genes can start within minutes of receipt of the stimulus, and last for many hours in certain parts of the brain. The very first genes to be expressed are called the Immediate Early Genes. These genes can be transcribed almost immediately without the formation of new proteins. fos B: A Member of the fos Family The fos B gene belongs to a group of genes known as the fos family. The fos family has four members: c-fos, fos B, fra-1, and fra-2. The members of the fos family work in conjunction with a group called the Jun family. The protein that is produced as a result of fos gene expression can be dimerized with Jun prodeits utilizing a leucine zipper domain. This unit then binds to a certain region of DNA. The fos family of genes are expressed during a variety of adaptive neural responses. It has been found that fos related proteins are activated in areas of the nervous system that are needed for nurturing behavior. Creating a fos B lacking Population In or... ...e results of these tests point to a defect in a region of the brain that is specific for nuturing. So, areas of the brain were fos B was expressed were analyzed. It was seen that the fos B gene was expressed in the preoptic area of the hypothalamus and in the main and accessory olfactory bulbs, as well as the pyriform cortex. All of these areas have been shown, in previous studies, to be related to the nuturing response. As a result, the lack of expression of the fos B gene is directly related to the lack of nuturing behavior in mutants, probably due to a lack of gene expression in one, or more of these areas. Audit Accounting Red Bluff Case Essay
1. The two biggest concerns relating to possible fraud for the motel part of the business are: a) The couple failing to record hotel guest stays in order to steal the cash paid. By not recording the hotel stay their cash reconciliations would be clear. b) The couple has no incentive help the motel perform at a profit since they are paid at salary. Since there is a high demand for their motel, service and quality could take a significant slip without losing too much money. The first control that could be set in place is through the intake process. Mr. Fernandez can easily set in place controls that would automatically create a transaction every time a new key was created. This is assuming the doors are operated with electronic keys. The only way this key system would work is if the keypad reset once the client was checked out of the system. Meaning the key would no longer work on that room and would need to be reprogramed i.e. create a new charge in the system. Another control that Mr. Fernandez could set in place would be to give the couple incentivized pay. It could be made up of both a base salary and bonuses based on the motelââ¬â¢s performance. Separation of duties- Might be limited because there are a small number of ppl. Have the cleaning staff report directly to Mr. Fernandez to let him know how many rooms they cleaned. Rooms cleaned should meet revenue. Tip line- If you donââ¬â¢t receive a receipt call this number. 2. The two biggest concerns relating to possible fraud for the cafà © part of the business are: a) Cash Receipts- Again the couple has too much control over transactions being recorded and the handling of money. b) Inventory- The cafà © inventory is a big concern because it is probably one of the most vulnerable assets behind cash. Mr. Fernandez can set up cameras in the cafà © and the motel that he can access remotely. This would be one way to deter the couple as well as employees. One of the best ways to make sure the couple and their staff is recording all meals sold is to have an touch screen order taking device. The customers can order the meals themselves or have their waitress/waiter record their order on a hand held mobile device. This recording system would also be able to keep track of any discounts or compensated meals the couple gives out. Another control that would need to be put in place is a monthly inventory check. This would help keep track of what items are being used in relation to what revenue is being produced. High inventory turnover with lower than usual revenue would probably prompt Mr. Fernandez to check the cameraââ¬â¢s for stolen inventory. Preload the menu with set meals/price. Everything should match revenue and inventory. The Cafà © should be separate from the motel. All goods should be sent through Mr. Fernandez so that he can see what the couple is buying. 3. If the system automatically created a charge in the system, this would not only keep track of what rooms are available, but it would also encourage the employees to accurately check-in and out each guest to avoid discrepancies with money collected and money due from a customerââ¬â¢s stay. By paying the couple an incentive based salary they will most likely perform better for the benefit of the motel and cafà ©. They will be motivated to hire the most qualified staff that would help create a profitable business. Having the cameras installed in the motel and cafà © wouldnââ¬â¢t cause any issues with productivity. By having the customers and employees use an electronic device to record meal orders would increase efficiency because orders could be instantly sent to the kitchen to be made. Performing an inventory for the kitchenââ¬â¢s assets every month might not be too efficient but it would be effective. Depending on how large the cafà © is, having staff perform inventory every month might be too much of an arduous task. 4. I believe the proposed controls would help boost productivity and benefit the motel/cafà ©Ã¢â¬â¢s day to day operations. However, if Mr. Fernandez were to change the salary of the couple they might feel as if Mr. Fernandez is backing out on what he originally agreed to pay the couple. Mr. Fernandez could alleviate any animosity and tension by ensuring the couple that a good performance on their part could potentially bring in more money than their original base salary.

Generation me
We are the first generation surrounded by technology. We were the first to grow up with computers, smart phones and internet. Within two seconds of using our phones, we can get old of any information our little heart's desire Just by typing words into Google. We are Millennial, also known as Generation Y. Born between the early asses to asses, our generation has much more confidence than the generation before us. We are smarter, confident and always connected. In fact, our generation is filled with smart adults who are open minded, hardworking and who set high goals or themselves.Since we are technology save. ââ¬Å"y' and opportunity driven, our chances in employment are greater. In our employer's eyes, our generation has the ability to communicate: respond quicker to messages and emails. According to William J. Schroeder, principle of the accelerating, the members of the Generation Y are ââ¬Å"immune to most traditional marketing and sales pitchesâ⬠as we grew up with it and have been around it since are early years. The question than is, is Generation Y really connected or are we an entitled generation who can only connect with ourselves? We are entitled at work, self-interested and we waste all of our money. Generation Y does not top other generations due to technology. What kind of future do we see for ourselves? We view the world differently and in our own way, we see success as something we can Just apply for. We enter a workforce expecting to be managers and Coos by the end of the day. We do not see ourselves as entitled but the truth is we are. Our work expectations are unrealistic and the idea of working short hours and getting paid well is something we think should happen automatically.According to the article, ââ¬Å"The trophy kids go to work,â⬠ââ¬Å"more than 85% of hiring managers and human-resource executives said they feel that millennial have a stronger sense of entitlement than older workersâ⬠. Robert Bogs, manager and admini strator at Corinthian Colleges in Southern California worked with young adults under thirty on his staff. ââ¬Å"They tend to be very self- absorbed; they value fun in their personal and their work life, because they've grown up multitasking on their mobile, pad and computer, I can't expect them to work on one project for any amount of time without getting bored. Aid Mr.. Bogs. We spend the most of our day posting on Faceable, blobbing about our lunches and taking selfless while we are on the clock. Yet, we carry ourselves as hardworking, dedicated and loyal to our employers. When it comes to social media, the discussion is not a surprise. We millennial are addicted to social networking. Our self-image is very important to us, and we spend hours posting pictures and blobbing Just enough to get the most ââ¬Å"likes. â⬠ââ¬Å"81% of Millennial are on Faceable, where their generation's median friend count is 250, far higher than that of older age groups. ââ¬Å"Millennial in Adu lthoodâ⬠). We cannot even remember what the world was like without Faceable and Mainstream. ââ¬Å"Millennial are also distinctive in how they place themselves at the center of self-created digital networks. Fully 55% have posted a ââ¬Å"selflessâ⬠on a social media site; no other generation is nearly as inclined to do this. â⬠(ââ¬Å"Millennial in Adulthoodâ⬠). In all due fairness, we millennial grew up with technology around us and to be connected with the world is great. However, we forget what it is like to have a conversation face to face and make reined without pressing the ââ¬Å"add friendâ⬠request button. When you're face to face, you can't control what you are going to say, and you don't know how long it's going to take or where it could go (Turtle). Turtle, author of ââ¬Å"Alone Togetherâ⬠, asked young adults why they enjoyed text messaging over having face-to-face conversations. Turtle says: ââ¬Å"Face-to-face interaction teaches ââ¬Ë skills of negotiation', of reading each other's emotion, of having to face the complexity of confrontation, dealing with complex emotion. â⬠We are missing out on an emotional connection when we connect o our phones and computers.Besides looking for the best places to work and hanging out with our phones, the gene Y is not the best when it comes to saving money. We simply waste it. Not thinking long term is the way of living for us millennial. We move out too early straight out of college, chasing fast money and not making the effort to save. We love spending our earnings on going out to eat instead of cooking, (l mean, who has the time to whip up three course meals every day? ), taking cabs instead of walking half a mile, unnecessary brand clothing items and of course coffee. The latest Pew Research rover found, ââ¬Å"Fully half of Millennial (51 %) say they do not believe there will be any money for them in the Social Security system by the time they are ready to retire. â⠬ With all this said, we convince ourselves that all these things are necessary and as much we enjoy our Cataracts and other luxury things, we millennial don't need them to survive. We millennial are living in the ââ¬Å"right now' and half of us are fighting the temptations of overspending. We are not thinking about our financial planning, but more of our social lives. We are the ââ¬Å"next great generationâ⬠but what do we need o accomplish before we own this title? As a millennial myself, I believe if we stay focused on our careers, work hard towards our goals, spend less time obsessing over our Mainstream salad pictures, brunch menus and Friday night wine tasting, our generation can put ourselves into a long term fulfillment. In reality, if we want to achieve the lifestyle that we are dreaming about, we have many areas of opportunities for improvement. As Millennial we are still growing and learning, and with more hard work, we can potentially be the best generation.

Evaluation of a groups work Essay
I will be evaluating two groupsââ¬â¢ still images, on the subject of fame. The first group I have chosen is Matt, Sally, Elena and Naomiââ¬â¢s group. I liked there still images as I thought they used a good range of levels and had good spatial awareness. For their first still image they had a celebrity in the centre, two people trying to reach over and get autographs, and another person on the floor on her knees, taking pictures of the celebrity. I think this was a good image as it showed the after fame pictures. I liked the fact that Elena playing the celebrity, was in the centre and was the one standing up right, as two people were leant over, trying to get autographs, and the other person was on the floor taking a picture. This showed levels and status, it showed that she was the centre of attention, and the person getting all the attention, whilst the others were at a lower status and have a much lower status in society. We can tell this as they are at lower levels than the person in the middle. The second image displayed good spatial awareness, as each individual thing that was represented had its own space, and it was very clear and easy to see what the meaning of it was. It represented a lifestyle of sex, drugs and fame. In one corner there was two people hugging, in the centre there was a person laying on the floor, and to the other side and slightly to the back was a person reading a newspaper story, of the things going on around her. I think the people were positioned carefully and the levels were also varied. However I think this still image could have been improved slighty, by bringing the person reading the story forwards, so that what she is reading is going on behind her. This would make it clearer that she is reading these things about sex and drugs. The second group I have chosen is Lucy, Laura, Beth and Bensââ¬â¢ group. I liked their still images, as they were both a negative one and a positive one. Their first still image their was one person in the middle, surrounded by paparazzi. This also shows status, as all the paparazzi were bent over at different levels trying to get a picture, it shows that the person in the middle has the most attention, and has the highest status. However the person doesnââ¬â¢t want to be photographed, and is trying to turn away from the cameras. This is an after fame still image, and in my opinion shows that the celebrity, is maybe not ready for fame and is very new in this society. The second still image shows a pro fame image. There is 4 girls in a row striking a pose, it seems like this is a photo from just before they become famous. These two images show contrast, as the first image shows someone who is in the lime light but maybe is not to keen to be, and the second image is the complete opposite with a girl band posing for the camera lapping up all the limelight and absorbing their first few seconds of fame, thinking that they are going to get all the fame and glory.

Nursing Practice Essay
1.Describe, in detail, specific to their age, health conditions, or other factors, what resources the members need to assemble prior to a disaster where evacuation or sheltering in place is required. Every community does have its problems and every community is made up of both the young and the old. The ages of this community ranges from 0 to 70 plus. This community needs major interventions to help improve the health status of the members of the community. Spoke to about 5 members in the community, four middle adults and one old. All the four adults did not have any source of health insurance. The older one has Medicare. When a disaster strikes, residents could be asked to get a disaster kit. The kit should be able to contain water, food, extra clothing, first aid kit, emergency items (flashlights, extra batteries, toilet papers etc). Parent with babies should have pack formula, diapers, bottles; baby wipes and diaper rash ointment. 2.Describe, in detail, specific to their age, health conditions, or other factors, what resources that the members may need during an evacuation or sheltering in place. Most of the young and old may have minor mental problems as a result of the tragedy they go through (depression, etc.). Member may need to have any form of ID on them, which will be for their own good. The Texas 2-1-1(Texas Health and Human Service Commission), gives information and referral on shelter locations, transportation options, and support medical facilities. The Southern Baptist disaster relief also does provide services like American Red Cross, but also do assist with clean-up activities like debris removal. 3.Describe, in detail, specific to their age, health conditions, or other factors, what resources the members may need immediately after an evacuation or sheltering in place, if adequate local support is unavailable. It is advisable for members to have any form of ID on them that will be for their own good. FEMA provide federal funding and supplements state disaster relief. One other resource is the American Red Cross, emergency assistance of Red Cross offers feedingà stations, shelters, cleaning supplies, household items, clothing, comfort kits, first aid, blood, credit cards etc. 4.Identify their resource deficits? List their knowledge deficits? FEMA and the American Red Cross agreed that FEMA should be the primary agency for mass care in the NRF because the primary agency should be able to direct federal agencies resources to meet mass care needs, which the Red Cross cannot (Fagnoni, 2008). Now, the deficit cut being requested by most politicians in Washington is going to make it difficult for resources to be given out adequately to victims of a disaster. One of the deficits of knowledge is how to allocate given resources. Most aggregates finds it difficult or have no idea where or how to get help in time of disasters. Although every American know about Red Cross, but most aggregate do not know where to start to get the held needed. 5.What resource or knowledge gaps can be addressed by the community health nurse to strengthen their flexible lines of defense (NSM) of the community aggregate? The community health nurse can address the gaps by first offering medical help, and by helping the community to get access to basic resources needed. Secondly, by providing the community with adequate information and ways in which to help the aggregates get the help they need. This will help give aggregates some kind of comfort and help reduce stress and pain. 6.What is the top priority knowledge deficit concern? The top knowledge deficit concern will be how aggregates will be coping. Lack of knowledge always comes with lot of stress. Without much needed information and resource, aggregates will find themselves being very anxious and will not be coping well. Basic life necessities might be difficult for aggregates to get hold off, and that puts a lot of stress on individual.

Teaching as a Professional Career - Essay Example Profession is something one can adopt for long and which one feels comfortable with. Teaching provides an individual with both. This is achieved by way of development of rapport and emotional attachment with the students. Everyday comes with new experiences both for the students and the teachers. For many teachers, their profession brings them intrinsic rewards of emotions and intellect. With their continuous, uninterrupted and persistent efforts day by day, the student improves in his/her response towards academics and by the end of the term, when he/she scores good marks, it is not only the school administration that acknowledges the teacherââ¬â¢s efforts, but also the parents of the succeeded children. Reflection is an activity teachers commonly do on daily basis in order to learn from their mistakes, improve their mentoring skills and overcome their weaknesses. In order to progress in any career, an individual needs to reflect upon experiences at the end of the day.
